I think you have to call Vonage to order your new device from them. You said that you looked all over the website so I assume you were trying to order a new device off the website. But like I said, you have to call them to order it as there is no way to order a new device on the website unless you are setting up a new account. Personally I think it's stupid. They need to have a link in the online account for current subscribers that would allow you to order a new device just like changing your rate plan, adding a new number and so on.

Or you can go to your local electronics store and purchase a device there if they have something you like. Then call Vonage to add the device to your account and then switch your number from your old device to the new device.

I have 2 devices, the one Vonage sent me the 2142 Motorola (I think that is the model). I purchased a Linksys wireless router with Voip (WRT54GP2). I called Vonage and gave them the information they needed and within 5 minutes I could use the Linksys. I can decide online which at anytime which device I want to use.

Be careful about buying one of EBay, Vonage doesn't have to activate a used adapter. If you live in an area that has the box stores, go there and purchase one.

damn are you serious? I just bought one off of Ebay!

I had a D-link device that went went router ---> device ---> phone however despite troubleshooting still sounds aweful compared to a landline.

So I ordered a Linksys PAP2 ---> phone / router which I've read should be better. Certainly worth $25 to try anyhow.

If the person who owned the adapter before you left Vonage on good terms ex. no money owing on the account you should be fine. Vonage will ask for the MAC address when you call them. For $25 I guess it is worth the gamble.

Well they claim the box was never oponed, so I guess we'll be finding out the truth.

What do I do? Hook up the device and then call Vonage to have it activated?
