I've been using the Motorola VT2542 for almost a month now and this device has been nothing short of excelllent. The phone call quality is as clear as if you were talking to the person right next to you. One of the stand-out features of the Motorola VT2542 is voice-over-data prioritization, which allows users to talk on the phone while using the Internet with no reduction in voice quality as voice packets are given a priority over data packets. I use to use a Hawking HBB1 broadband booster with my previous Vonage device (WRTP54G), but it is no longer needed now that I have the Motorola VT2542.
The wireless range of the VT2542 I find to be very good, I've also set up port forwarding and a home VPN server on this device...everything just works as it should. If your internet connection is A1, the VT2542 will perform like a champ...that's been my personal experience. |

It's mixed. Right now Vonage appears to be looking to liquidate its stock of D-Link VWR's because they are offering them for free! So, if you want to put out like 70 bucks or so, get the 2542. Otherwise, get the VWR.
I have used both. The VWR was great, and then one day it just started resetting itself (after about 8 months). Tech Support blamed the surge protection I was using, which was very possible since it wasn't necessarily overloaded, but there were sparks when I was unplugging stuff...
So, I changed the surge bar and Vonage did an RA and I ended up with the VT2542.
My suggestion? Go with the FREE device - then if it ever blows up, they'll most likely be replacing it with the VT2542 because they won't offer the VWR anymore. |

I think they are offering both for free (I'm swapping out an old device) |

Having switched from the WRTP54G, I have been using the VT2542 for 2 months. So far, I have no complaints. My fax line seems to work much better with the VT2542. |

Has anyone been able to find a Motorola VT-2542 at a retailer yet? I am replacing a TERRIBLE Lynksis non-wireless router. |

The Linksys that I'm replacing is an RT31P2 as well as a D-Link DI624 wireless router from Verizon Fios. Everything that I've read indicates that the Moto is the best available from Vonage.
P.S. I was able to get the 2542 from Vonage directly that only required a little patience and some luck to get the right person who really wanted to help. Since my current router is out of warrantee I did have to pay the new customer price of $59.99 after rebate, but I'm satisfied if it works better. |

I don't think there is much question that the 2542 is a better device than the VWR; there are a minimum of 26 'known issues' for the VWR....don't try to port forward or go for ddns or vpn etc with the VWR |

I don't know much about motorola VT2542, but i know well about VWR. So better buy VT2542 because motorola devices work great than VWR. |
