Has anyone had to deal with rebooting the Moto 2542 router either through the menu option or unplugging the power? Did the settings hold or did you have to reconfigure the router?
I love this router (so far a bit over a month) but learned a new feature/problem when I had to unplug the router and plug back in. It lost all my configuration such as security settings, user id and password, DHCP and all other settings. I thought perhaps this is only when you unplug the power.
SO, I reconfigured and then exported the settings, then reset to factory defualt again and rebooted for good measures. Now I imported the config.bin. The router automatically reboots after import, all settings were lost again (I did not unplug).
Oh and by the way, I am not referring to restarting the wireless feature, I am talking about rebooting the router or unplugging and plugging it back in.
Any ideas? suggestions? comments? |

This is a very well known issue with the Motorola VT2542. If you reboot the device or if there is a power outage to the VT2542, all settings, including security will be lost. |

I have had the D-Link for years and love it. I will admit to putting it through its paces,. Since I work from my home office, I have even had the occasion to spill coffee into the thing (and I do mean INTO it) and it is still going strong. Great quality. Though I would not reccommend spilling coffee into your router, I will be replacing this one with the same or the next generation should the need ever arise. |
