I am having the exact same problem. My old Panasonic Showstopper was working fine with my old land based phone service. Soon as I went to Vonage, the Showstopper tries to dial out but will not establish a connection to download the channel giude. This is very frustrating!
And yes, I did disconnect the line from the telco box thus severing my home's connection to the outside world. And yes, I can make and receive calls. And yes, my internet connection is working just fine. |

Devices like that...TiVo, DirectTV, etc., are extremely difficult to get to work over Voip. It IS NOT...I repeat, IS NOT a Vonage problem specifically, but a deficiency in the Voip technology itself. The V in Voip stands for Voice, not fax or Tivo, or replayTV. Voip was not designed with TiVo, DirectTV or even faxing in mind. There is an advancement in the technology, called FoIP, in the works. Designed to enhance the ability to send faxes over IP, it should also increase the ability for those other above named devices to dial out over IP. |

Can you advise when or if Vonage will support FoIP? |

That would explain why slowing the modem speed of Replay down would help. The slower speed would more closely resemble voice and, I assume, be more forgiving of transmission errors. |
