OK, I found out my garage leaks and now my Linksys phone adapter I got when I signed up with vonage is dead. I am looking at going to the store and getting a new adapter box but unsure what is a good one to get:
Linksys PAP2
Linksys WRTP54G (I already have a Linksys wireless g for my home wireless)
Dlink VTA-VR
Motorola VT1005V
or order from the vonage site
Motorola VT2142
Dlink VWR
Thanks for your time. |

I'm sure you could search the forum for information about each specific product. Personally, I can tell you that I have used the VTA for one year now and have had zero problems. The only thing I have noticed is that it tends to get rather hot (much more than my router) so be sure to place it in an open and ventilated location. Good Luck! |

Soxx, I agree with Tglea. If you're happy with your wireless router, then all you need for Vonage is a simple adapter. Either the PAP2 or the D-link VTA should serve you well. |

Just my 2-cents, but my Motorola VT1005V has been working great for well over a year. A friend also has had one for a few months longer than I have, and has experienced no problems either. |

The PAP2s have been around for a long time now. Whatever problems they may have originally had are, I think, long past. |

I'm using the original PAP2 I got in 2005 and it is still working great. I have never touched it. |

I've had them all, and my favorite is actually the little D-Link VTA. The PAP2 has some strange quirks that I didn't care for:
Call Waiting beeps are frequent and obnoxious, whereas the Call Waiting beeps on the VTA are more like a POTS service (2 beeps maximum, well-spaced apart).
Audio output on the PAP2 seems too hot. I can't seem to turn the volume on my handset down far enough! Too loud!
Also, in the past, the Linksys units had some weird bugs. These bugs were usually introduced each time a new firmware version was automatically pushed into the box by Vonage. The VTA is super simple, sounds good, and is rock solid. My solution was to use the VTA, plus a 'real' router. I'm super happy with my setup now.
Good luck! |

VT 1005 - old but works.
My Vonage VT 1005 has been in service since Jan 04 and has only needed the occasional reboot (once every 2-3 months).
I have it in front of a Netgear wired/802.11 B/G router.
I agree with having a separate phone adaptor and router from what I've heard and read. Hope this is useful. |
