Ok I just got the Linksys RT31P2 yesterday and everything is set up and the phone 1 light is on but when I pick up the phone I do not get a dail tone but a hissing sound.
The phone I am using is a GE caller id phone (and its not cordless) also tryed a other phone and something.
Hope its not the device cause it would be hard for me to send it back for a new one!!
Try everything thats on the site and called tech support they told me it must be the phone if so then going to have to go out and buy a other phone |

if you've tried two phones then that's probably not it. I had a problem with my cordless GE phone losing caller ID after a second and barely ringing at all. They increased the voltage or something like that and it fixed it. I doubt that's your problem, but who knows. Are you using a two wire or four wire phone cord? Both work fine for me but I guess two wire is recommended. Also, how is your network set up? |

sounds like a basic set up, don't see why there would be problems there. It's not two or four phone cords, it's the wires inside the phone cord. Unplug it from the phone or linksys and you can see how many wires are inside it. That's kind of a long shot anyway. I'm pretty sure a lot of people use comcast with Vonage, but the only other thing I can think of is to make sure the cable modem or isp isn't blocking the vonage's udp ports. They're listed on this forum somewhere, just search for them. |

I'm about to leave here, but I just remembered someone else posting that they put their phone cord in line 2, nothing happened, then put it back in line 1 and it worked. Might want to give that a try. Tech support should have also activated line 2 for you to see if that worked when you talked to them. If not, call them back and ask them to do it. |
