Post subject: RTP300 not working in new location (Excessive blinking, etc)
Hey everybody.
This post is actually for my mother because she's having a bit of a problem with her RTP300.
Well, recently, she just moved to a new house and she moved her
Vonage
line to the house, also.
I set up the router exactly how I did with the old location and when I turned it on, the Power light blinks rapidly, which I know it means it's updating, but, all 4 of my Ethernet ports are just solid lights, no blinking whatsoever, and my 2 phone lines are blinking rapidly just like the Power light, and the "Internet" light doesn't blink at all, it just remains dead.
I've tried letting it sit there, but waited well over 3 hours and to no avail. I can't get on the update site because there is no connectivity when I plug the ethernet cable from PC->RTP300.
I've looked all over the place for a solution, but it seems none of them work.
I have never used a
Vonage
line before, it's all my mom's, but is there some kind of CD or installer that the phone comes with that I could download?
I checked on the forum and it says to provide info on my ISP and PC, so here they are :
PC : 2.4 ghz / 256 mb RAM - Windows XP
ISP : Globe Lines,
Philippines
Phone : Globe Lines,
Philippines
Thanks.

It shouldn't need an installation CD, because at it's root, it's simply a router. What is concerning to me, though, is all four of the ethernet ports solidly lit. Is there hardware plugged into all four ports? If not, then obviously they all shouldn't be lit. My suggestion would be to give the device a factory reset, either through the software interface (192.168.15.1 with a user name & password of admin) or through the reset button at the back of the device. Hold the button down with a paperclip for a minimum of 30 seconds. Then release and hope for the best. If it continues to do that, you may need to replace it.

Hey, thanks for the reply.
Nope, not only one of the actual ethernet lines are connected. That's what I kind of feared was gonna be the problem. I will try and reset this, and also, as I said, going to 192.168.15.1 with the router is impossible because of the fact that when I put the setup as...
Modem->Vonage Router->PC
it says "Connection has been disconnected" or something of that sort, but if I just do
Modem->PC
Everything works great.

Checking your connectivity by plugging the PC directly into the modem was the right first move. Now you at least know that your ISP is working. Is this the same ISP and the same type of service that your Mom had in the old place?
Please provide the complete technical details listed in the sticky message at the top of the forum.

1. Your location -
Philippines
(Bohol)
2. Your ISP name and type (cable, DSL, wireless etc) - Globelines
3. Upload and download speeds - 1mb/256
4. Modem make and model - Prolink ADSL2+
5. Type of
Vonage
adapter used ie RT31P2 or PAP2 - RTP300
6. Setup of Network= Modem->Vonage Adapter->PC
7. Issue you are experiencing ie dropped calls, choppy audio etc - The modem does not work in a new location.
8. Run this
Voip
Test - Impossible to run it because there is no connectivity whatsoever between the RTP300->PC
Everything is exactly the same; same PC, same ISP, same everything. The power light just keeps blinking, the Ethernet lights are all solid colors, all 4 of them, the phone lines blink, both of them, also, and the internet led is dead.

Well, since it is a DSL connection, I wonder if the PPPOE / Static IP settings need to be changed.

Noct- me too.
MeiAnother- Take a look at the network connections on your PC. Since that setup works with the new DSL connection, it's the way that the WAN side of the
Vonage
adapter needs to be set up to work with the DSL connection.
I'm speculating here, but did the DSL installer in the new home change the network setup in the PC? That would explain a lot.

He didn't touch the PC at all, actually, since he was just moving the line to a different area, so there was no need to actually set it up again. We did get a new modem, though, so I guess not everything is 100% exactly the same. Maybe the modem could be causing it not to go through the
Vonage
line?
If so, what should I do to try and make it work? I've been trying things all night, still no luck.

Once again, you really need to look at the current network setup on the PC. Give us some details and the networking gurus in here will probably have some word of wisdom for us.
In the meanwhile, it may be that the new modem is one of those silly units that only wants to work with one MAC number. Having been working with the PC already, it may be unwilling to work with the
Vonage
adapter. Try unplugging the modem for several hours, then turn it on with the
Vonage
unit already installed, and see if that works.

What do you mean by current network setup?
How would I find this setup?
If you're talking about how the PC's are setup, it's
Modem->Vonage->PC
but that doesn't work, so it's
Modem->PC
until
Vonage
starts working.
I've unhooked
Vonage
for a few hours now, waited, waited, and still nothing. Where can I find my network settings?
