The problem you are having is that by default the Linksys adapters do not send a CPC disconnect signal.

Tell them you would like them to set this to .2 (that's a decimal then "2" for 2 10th's of a second or 200ms).

Would this solve the answering machine problem where it continues to record a slow busy and then fast busy until it times out?

??

Quite possibly...if your answering machine is smart enough to drop when it senses a current interruption (voltage drop) on the line.

Well gang, I'm feeling better about Vonage CS. I just called to have the CPC Duration set for me. I only held for 10 minutes and was picked up by Harry in tech support. He set the feature in my config and my "stuck on hold when caller hangs up" is all fixed.

I still can't believe I got thru in under 10 minutes. I nearly disconnected myself scrambling to pick the phone up from speakerphone because I was so shocked!

Maybe things are improving.

Hi,
There has been some great help being posted in here and I was wondering if I could tag onto that. I need (want) a PBX for my home. Since this is a home purchase I don't want to spend a mint on it (the wife would kill me). I found a great deal on eBay for a 4-co/16-line PBX. It is a product from Model – SP-416B and can be had on eBay for about $189 + $50 USD shipping. But, I don't know if it will work with Vonage. Does anyone have any experience with this product?

For cheaper PBXs, I'm still a fan of the Panasonic KX-TA/KX-TD Series phone systems. The -TA is analog, which is better for fax machines & modems, -TD is digital, which is fine if you're only using voice devices & want more toys) Of note, the Panasonic KX-TD systems give you a data port on each system phone that works independently of the phone itself. Also, both systems are capable of using regular plain old telephones without any additional line cards. Best place to read all about the small Panasonic systems that I've found is at www.ablecomm.com They have quite a few details about how the systems work and some of the unique functions posted.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did forget to mention (although implied with this forum) is that I use Vonage. Are the Panasonic PBXs compatible with the Linksys Router from Vonage?

PostPosted: Tue Aug 23, 2005 4:06 pm    Post subject: Anyone get Vonage to change the CPC duration lately? Reply with quote Back to top

Has anyone had any luck getting Vonage support to change the CPC duration successfully as of late? I called Vonage today and spoke to a guy who didn't ultimately do whatever was necessary in order to resolve my problem of my lines not automatically disconnecting when the calling party hangsup.

Does anyone have any advice as to how to go about getting through to the right person to get the CPC duration properly set for my PAP2?

Thanks very much,

Jeff

It can be done, you may need to call back and speak to someone else.

SYSTEM - Nortel Norstar / 3 Vonage Lines w/Linksys RTP300

Our company just bought a Nortel Norstar CICS along with the CallPilot 100 voicemail unit. I am having the same issues that are being described here (i.e. line hangs, voice mail leaves 3 to 5 minutes of off the hook noise, call never drops even when people hang up.) So I called tech support and first got a crappy support tech made him transfer me to higher support and got a decent tech. I referred him to this thread and he read it with excitement eager to help. We tried everything from changing the CPC duration to CPC delay, didn’t change a dang thing!!! I have one land line through Verizon and it hangs but only for about 30 seconds not 3 to 5 minutes. In my mind it should be a few seconds after they hang up right? I have tried everything I have called a Nortel tech and we changed the lines from Unsupervised to Supervised changed the disconnect timer etc... basically he said "I’m lost I have worked on these type of phones for 20 years and never had this bad of a line hang problem.

The Vonage tech suggested I go out and buy a Linksys PAP2 and call back and make these changes and see if that works. What do you guys think?? Please help!!!

I had to call Vonage twice before I got through to someone who really understood what this thread was telling him to do, but, once I got through to the right person, the disconnect behavior of both lines on my PAP2 was completely changed for the better.
