Well since switching from the RTP300 to the WRTP5G4 i have been experiencing several issues. My ISP is comcast, and the router is connected directly to the modem. My internet speed has been fine, all the issues seem to be with the phone.

For call waiting, if a second person tries to call while im talking on the phone, I will hear the first beep, then it disconnects the 2nd person. I tested it and it simply ends the second call then returns to the original person I was talking to. (*Edit* now it just gives the second person a busy tone, though Call Waiting is still activated)

As for Caller ID, it seems to just be completely random, half the numbers it doesnt register, other times it just displays "Calling". On top of that, the name/numbers it does display arent saved in the Caller ID log. To add to the confusion it seems some cell phones make it, some dont, same with verizon users and other Vonage users.

I have already called Vonage about 5-6 times, each time we seem to fix an issue, but create another. Any help would be great.

What firmware version is your WRTP54G running? (the number on the upper-right-hand side of the screen, preferably read AFTER you have logged in to the router).

Some of the older firmware versions on that unit had a lot of trouble with caller ID and especially call waiting.

If your firmware is old (earlier than 1.00.62), you may need to turn off wireless for a while to free up enough memory for it to accept firmware upgrades. This was especially true of the 1.00.18 -> 1.00.20 upgrade a couple of years ago.

Vonage is still, as far as I know, shipping WRTP54Gs with old firmware, and the issue comes up every now and then...

My router pages display I have version 1.00.20 both before and after login. I called Vonage to ask if they could bump me to 1.00.62, but according to them I am already at 1.00.62 on my account. So really I dont know who to believe Sad but i am definietly still having callerid and waiting issues.

I also have this same problem. When I called I was told that I needed check my connection speed and that was fine, then it was to raise the broadband saver to the highest setting. Well, that is no good either. So I am like you, what to do.

Normally, turning off wireless for a couple of hours on the WRTP54G allows the firmware upgrade to take. However, you can do the upgrade yourself if you're feeling frisky.

the only problem with doing it yourself is the user/tivonpw doesnt work(at least it didnt for me). I guess you gotta get that information from Vonage or linksys, im not sure.
