PostPosted: Sun May 13, 2007 11:59 pm    Post subject: WRT54G Motorola Linksys Router --- IP Address? Reply with quote Back to top

I'm completely, completely, and utterly confused on where to post anything for it isn't so clear, but, I guess I'll just post my problem here. Sorry if it's in the wrong place, I couldn't tell where to post anything by the forum descriptions.

I have a problem with the router in the topic title, a simple one, I am looking for the IP address for a Motorola WRT54G Linksys Router model, I am using Vonage, and someone from Vonage once told me over the phone, however, I don't know the number, they aren't open, and this is much easier. Can I have the IP address for it? I am trying to use remote assistance on MSN Messenger but a port (my router blocks everything I can think of) is unable to open so I can't connect to somebody.

So, can anyone please share the IP address for a Motorola, WRT54G, Linksys Router?

Thank you,

~NeciFiX

The WRT54G is strictly a Linksys router, NOT a Motorola router. You don't need the IP adress for remote assistance to work with MSN Messenger. What you do need to make certain is that UPnP is enabled on your router and if the person you are trying to remotely assist is behind a router, they also need to enable UPnP on their router.

The next step to ensuring remote assistance works, is verifying that both parties have the latest version of "Windows Messenger" not to be confused with "Window Live Messenger", they are two seperate messaging programs. The latest version of Windows Messenger is 5.1 and can be downloaded from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a8d9eb73-5f8c-4b9a-940f-9157a3b3d774&DisplayLang=en

After downloading and installing Windows Messenger 5.1 if you don't already have it, restart your systems and then try the remote assistance session.

I've done remote assistance before on Windows Live Messenger.

How do I make sure UPnP is enabled on my router?

Open your router's login page by typing in 192.168.1.1 in your web browser. You should see an option to enable UPnP (Universal Plug-N Play). I can't remember which tab its on but it is there; you will just have to look for it.

Did you mean the Linksys WRTP54G? If so, the information is below.

I found the information at: http://www.vonage.com/help.php?category=93&nav=5 which lists all the user guides for the various Vonage adapters.

192.168.15.1

No, I didn't, but, this is the IP I was referred to before to fix my internet, and it did work.

It says bad username/password when I put that in exactly how it says.

Leave the User Name field blank. In the Password field, enter the
password you have set (the default password is admin). Then click the OK button.

Mostly the username and pass will probably be Linksys: or Amin Admin.

But if you have changed it then you have to call linksys Smile

On the other hand to log to it either type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254 will take you to log in too.

What is your ISP provider? sometimes the pass will be their name:

Example the 2Wire modem wireless router's Pass is TELUS Smile

Cheers

I had that router and the ip address is 192.168.1.1 and password is admin. If by chance you did change the username and password (and you should have) just reset the router by pressing the button by using a pin on the back.

192.168.1.1 never works for me. It never has and I don't think it ever will!

OK, I'll try the new advice.
