I find your link very interesting because it shows the area codes not in use yet. I don't remember seeing it in such an order. It looks like quite a few left, but at the rate we are consuming area codes with wireless phones and multiple lines (yes I am guilty) I assume they will be used up soon. I look forward to the day we stop using the old number system that worked for electromechanical switches and move to a better digital system I believe is coming.

You are right - there are not much area codes left. I think that we are going to move to better digital system which will use IPv6 instead of old phone numbers. With current speed of progress in
Voip
, IPTV and other IP related devices/applications we should expect in next 10-15 years.
