I'm having the following problem:
When I call into my office voice mail system the system won't recognize my phone dialing tones. For example, to access voice mail I have to type number "2" and then my mailbox number. It's like Vonage isn't even sending the tones when I press the buttons.
Any ideas? |

You are not alone. These are called DTMF tones. If you have a Motorola ATA you can request a firmware upgrade from Vonage that has helped some people. If that doesn't work, you can request the new Linksys ATAs that don't seem to have a problem with this. |

Thanks
I spoke with Vonage and they told me the solution was to send me a new Linksys unit with router. I don't really want/need the router because I already have a router but Vonage said that is all they have in stock. Sounds fishy. I'd rather just have the phone adapter rather than trying to deal with two routers. |

Ok. I confirmed with Vonage that this is the unit they are sending me to replace my Motorola unit. RT31P2
Is this good? Seems like I'd rather just have the PAP2. Seems more simple.
But the Vonage tech guy said the RT31P2 is the best adapter you can get right now in terms of quality of sound and consistency.
Thoughts? |

that's what they're sending nowadays apparently. I don't have much to compare it to besides Packet8, but it seems pretty good. You're right, the PAP2 would be more simple, but it isn't too bad. There's also been complaints about the PAP2 and humming, etc. |

Well I just got my new Linksys router and it does work fine with my existing Linksys wireless router. I didn't have to do any configuration to get it working.
I will point out though that the quality of the sound is noticably worse with the Linksys unit than with the Motorola unit. I'm not really happy about that. There is a lot more "noise" with the linksys unit. |
