I have a Linksys RP31P2 and want a Motorola VT2442. Where can I buy one? I have been all over the Vonage site and haven't seen where I can purchase one to upgrade. I would think I could get one billed to my account thru Vonage.

I had an RT31P2 and it was getting worn, when I called Vonage to advise them, they upgraded me to a new router free of charge. I think they realise that its not worth troubleshooting old routers like the RT31P2.

I tried calling tech support. They told me it was out of warranty and I could purchase a new one from Best Buy or Circuit City. I went by both local stores and neither had any Voip routers. Maybe I should call customer service?

Well I've called Vonage 4 times and still haven't received an answer as to if I can purchase a new router thru them. This is frustrating. You'd think that it would be an option somehow.

Did you try the direct link I provided to you? I called that number (1-800-705-7092) myself and specifically asked if the VT2442 was available through Vonage and the rep told me yes.

That link and offer is for new accounts and lines only. If you call the number listed above you will get Vonage sales, they will sell you a new account with a new device, but not just a new device, thats not what they do. Purchasing a VT2442 on an existing account that is out of warranty will probably cost you the full $79.99 but it can definitely be done. I don't think any of their agents can do this except the people in their NJ office so make sure that is who you are talking to. If they keep refusing, tell them you want to speak to a supervisor. From what I have seen on this and other sites, people report getting Linksys RT31P2's or RTP300's as warranty replacement devices for their defective VT2442/2142's so they may be running low on their Motorola stock, hence their reluctance to part with a device they have none or very few of.

You are correct in your statement in that the link and number provided is for sales or new accounts and the purchase of a new device. But you are incorrect when you say that the purchase of a Motorola VT2442 for an existing account would cost $79.99. The sales rep that I spoke to transferred me to customer service and I explained to him that I wanted to purchase the VT2442 for an existing account. I asked him how much would the device cost and he informed me the price was $9.99 (just as it states on the products page) plus shipping and handling.

I really don't understand why he, "cbolt67", is having such a hard time with the purchase of a new device through Vonage...Everytime I've called they've offered to sell it to me at the reduced price of $9.99 plus s/h, regardless if it's through sales for new accounts or through customer service for existing accounts.

Every time I call I get a rep who doesn't speak english as a first language. Maybe it's a communication problem between myself and the rep? I have spoken to customer service everytime and still can't get this done.

Darrell_G what number are you calling? I've tried everyone I can find.

I appreciate everyone's help on this. I love my Vonage...I just want a new router Smile

This morning before I posted back to this thread, I dialed the number ( 1-800-705-7092) that was provided in the link which is for Sales but the rep transferred me to customer service. You should dial 1-866-243-4357 (customer service #) and tell them that you would like to purchase a Motorola VT2442 for an existing account.
