I have a hard time believing that it is the phone or the way that my connection is set up because this is only happening when I make a phone call to someone in the town I live in.

If I dial anything starting with 518-725, I have the following issues:
1. The ring tone sounds as if I am calling to another country
2. The person on the other end either gets a strange phone number or an Unknown Number on their caller ID
3. There is approximately a 3 second delay after I talk and after the person on the other end talks

If I call the next town - No problem. If I call another state - No problem. If I call anyone else but in 518-725 (my hometown), no problem.

I have tried rebooting the router several times and changing the bandwidth with no luck. I emailed Vonage over a week ago (because I could not get through when I called) but never received a reply. I am so frustrated that I cannot call anyone locally and am not getting help after being a customer for 2 years that I am thinking of switching to TW just so that I can get something to work. Any ideas/suggestions?!

I experienced a similar (maybe) problem. When I dial a local number without dialing the area code first (since it is a local number) (704) many times I have to dial more than once, and sometimes it only rings once and stops. Obviously the party I'm calling is ringing, because seconds later they pick up, but, I only heard that first ring, period.

This does not happen when I call a different area code.

Did you ever get this fixed?

I have even tried dialing the area code and the country code with the area code...

What is your equipment? i had this issue for couple of times, i have the D-Link VTA, i reset that and change the speed to min and then back to max bandwith, it fixes it.

But what is your exact problem can you dig more into it ? i will TS with you Wink
