All incoming calls are free so it doesn't matter if you have the unlimited plan or not.

I think the V-Me calls are free to the user and that the buddy at tech support didn't really know what he was talking about. I tried it with my cell phone and the cell phone rang with a toll free number. I tried with my soft phone and it came up as my name.

Has anyone else tried to call tech support on this issue? I sent Vonage an email yesterday on this subject and I have yet to hear back from them.

I think it would be great if Vonage would also roll out an inbound fax service. If a fax machine dials your number, Vonage picks it up and automatically accepts the fax for you, then routes it to your e-mail. I'd be willing to pick this up as a $4.95/mo feature just to have all my services in one convenient package.

I couldn't find it in the V-Me "Help" section -- do those who "call" me from another area code using V-Me get charged for a long-distance call? I wouldn't think they could, if the call was incoming for them, but phone companies have been using phone bills like credit cards for years now, so I'm not taking any chances.

I sent an email to vonage's knowledge base and the respondent said that for non-Vonage users who utilize the Vonage V-Me feature to call a Vonage customer, Vonage won't and can't bill them for anything.

Hope this helps! Very Happy

Thank you for checking this out for us and confirming what I already suspected - that the only person being "charged" is the Vonage subscriber being called.

Thanks! I would have thought that legally, if the person did not necessarily originate the call (and they have no way of knowing if anyone puts someone else's number in there), they would be on legally treacherous footing trying to bill this third party who is not their customer.

Now that I think about it, this feature is a prankster's dream...I just hope that Vonage eventually gives the ability to block V-Me requests, just in case.

There's an option to disable V-Me in the V-Me setup menu.

I've tried using Vfax, but I can't even access it. Every time I try to "log in" to use it, it keeps telling me no such Vonage number recognized. W.T.F. is that??? I enter my Vonage.com user name and correct password, but then it returns the aforementioned log-in error. How does one even GET Vfax???

Well, I was finally able to log on--don't know why through Vfax it was cap locks sensitive (I guessed and tried that way) when through Vonage.com I never had to worry about that.

Anyway, I did log on and tried sending a fax, but it went through all the steps and finally failed with the "unable to reach destination" error message.

I would like a way to be in word and use Vfax from there with out saving what you wrote or scan then goto Vfax to send. Now, the way I see it, I have to create a cover letter in word, scan what I have to fax, insert it on my word document and save all of that, then go to Vfax and send it. Does any one have an easier way? The way I have been doing it works, it just takes so long. I like the feature and open for any suggestions.
