You are correct. Calls from "V-Me" get charged against your minutes. I just tried it, logged into my account and looked at my call log and it showed up as an outgoing # transfer. (As we all know outgoing calls are charged against your minutes.)

What I don't understand is, since Vonage already has V-Access where neither the person calling, nor the Vonage account being called is charged, why is Vonage offering V-Me where the Vonage account IS charged?

Mind you, if you're on the Unlimited Plan, it doesn't matter. All calls are free. But this could become a little worrysome for those like me who are on the 500 Minute Plan.

The Fax service doesn't work for me, at all. I have tried sending to both a fax machine and an electronic fax service. All attempts (about 10 in all) produce this message "Unexpected call termination, your fax was not fully transferred" after sending of the fax begins.

So far, useless.

I would guess it has to do with the way the call is routed using the person's PSTN line and Vonage having to pay line access charges. By calling the V-Access number you are calling a central dialing point. Using V-Me you are routing the call a little differently (Vonage is originating the call). I could be wrong. It is purely a guess on my part.

I had the same results, my fax machine reported a Com error. You do have to remember that the links provided say they are in alpha, which means they are still in the stages of development and may or may not work correctly yet. When they do progress on v-fax I can see it being a big help to people who have problems sending faxes over their Vonage line. Now, if they can make an incoming v-fax service inplace of their current fax lines that just e-mails the incoming fax to me, then that would solve so many problems.

Apparently many are having problems with the fax service, according to posts on other forums.

Personally, I wish Vonage would focus on improving its basic service. I have gone from perfectly good service over about three years to echo, dropped calls and yesterday no incoming calls--all over the course of a month or so.

I used to love Vonage. Now I'm seriously thinking of leaving. I expect improvement, not deterioration.

I guess I'm lucky. I tried it and it worked quite nicely. I tried it several times with different files to with one fax number, so will have to test it with other fax numbers before I start to rely on it.

I faxed my work last night, and this morning the fax was there. On the fax however it doesn't say the number who sent the fax.

I have the unlimited plan so I don't need to keep track of how many minutes I have used. V-access is a good plan, but where my relatives live there are no local v-Access numbers so the V-Me is a good idea. Even where I live I can't get a local number.

I called Vonage U.S tech support and I was told that it is a long distance call for someone not in your calling area. Mad

Hmm are they sure? Because if both the non-Vonage caller, AND the Vonage line being called are being charged, then something's not right.

When someone uses V-Me, the caller ID that is shown when the service calls them to complete the call is, supposedly, a toll-free number. *shrugs* So darned confusing.

Not unusual for tech support to be lost in the woods when a new feature comes out. You didn't necessarily hear the right information.
