My service has degraded over the past few months so I tried a couple of things to see if there was a change.
I currently have my PAP2 connected to an external (Internet) IP by plugging my cable modem and PAP2 into a 5 port switch. By this method an external IP is leased by the PAP2 and another external IP by my wireless router. As I expected my phone service is excellent.
Are there any security issues with this set up such as the PAP2 being hacked?
Thanks in advance for your input. |

I dont think the PAP 2 has a web interface, it only has the voicemenu function when you press the star key.
So, I think that you're safe. Or at least, seems such. If you really are worried, go grab a cheap wired linksys router or something so everything's protected by NAT/PAT and a firewall. |

I have never had anyone hack into the system. When I first signed up with Vonage, that same day I had hackers. I secured everything and somehow they still got through and tore my system up. I bought another device modem/router from SBC dsl and I then had no hackers. I don't remember the device from Vonage. I also hada linksys router. Now I have the Vonage router and cable modem with no problems. VT2442 from Vonage. |
