PostPosted: Fri Nov 12, 2004 11:41 am    Post subject: Install Problems -> Status Off-Line with RT31P2 Reply with quote Back to top

I have received the Phone Router one month ago and I cannot use the service due to technical problems that Vonage Support cannot seem to understand.

I was able to configure the RT31P2 easily to connect to the Internet, I can surf the web behind the RT31P2, etc

The problem is that I cannot get dial tone (Phone1 light is off)

Admin/Status/Voice shows
Registration Status: Offline

Vonage Tech Support told me that I have timeout problems and they sent me instructions to restore factory defaults.

Nothing is working, nobody seems to be taking care of this issue. I have tried different Internet Connections, different phones, etc

Anybody there that can assist on this matter?

Thanks in advance

PostPosted: Fri Nov 12, 2004 12:04 pm    Post subject: Configuration Reply with quote Back to top

I have a direct Broadband Internet Connection (no cable Modem) so the device is plugged in to the Ethernet WAN cable

[LinkSys] -> [INTERNET]
[LinkSys]-> [INTERNET]

My computer is connected to the LinkSys and I can surf the web so everything is correct regarding LAN and Internet configuration.

Thanks

I know this may sound dumb , but when I first installed mine I had the same problem and I plugged it into port #2 , it lit up of course it didn't work but then I unplugged it and port #1 worked after I rebooted the router.

I know it sounds dumb but worth a shot.

PostPosted: Fri Nov 19, 2004 9:24 pm    Post subject: RT31P2 Phone 1 and 2 Off-Line but have Internet Connection? Reply with quote Back to top

I have had a residental Vonage line (VT1000) for some time and it works great! I signed up for a business line a few days ago and just received my Linksys RT31P2 from Vonage. I set up the phone and went through the setup a few times but I don't get a dial tone. Here's how I have it set up; Cable Modem (Comcast HS)==RT31P2==(Port 1 = VT1000, Port 2 = PC), (Phone 1 = Phone). VT1000 works great! PC Internet works great!
lights on all systems show internet activity. The lights on Phone 1 and 2 are off and RT31P2 setup screen show Off-Line. I've run through all troubleshooting suggestions from Vonage and Linksys with no change.

Does anyone have any ideas? I will call Vonage help only as a last resort.

Thanks.
