Hello,
I have the D-Link VWR router and when I had Windows XP on my Laptop I only had to write a password to connect wireless (I had my password setup).
Now with Windows Vista I can only connect if I don't have the password enabled on the router. If I set the password, Windows Vista asks me for a login, password, and domain name. I put only the password but it doesn't work.
Where can I find the login and the domain name?
Thank you for your help |

are you trying to login into the router 192.168.XX.X? If so I would just press the reset button on the back and it will revert back to factory settings which the password is admin. Once you get logged back in the router change the user name and password and also make it secure again. Not sure why you can't get in using Vista, check the dlink website and see if there is something listed about Vista. |

How did you solve the problem, using the reset switch? |

[font=Comic Sans MS] Dear All,
I've got a new D-Link VWR and have all wires hooked up correctly.
However, when I enter 192.168.15.1 into Explorer I cannot get the login page. I get the cannot be found error. I do have phone service. But explorer says limited or no connectivitiy.
HELP!! I want to login to set up wireless security, etc.
I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium with Norton Internet Securities.

I would suggest having this wired when doing any changes and getting it set up, then once you have you wireless settings done you can disconnect from the computer. |

FIXED!
With a short phone call to Vonage tech support I was able to login to the D-link vwr router. Yes, All along I was trying to connect with the wired connections in order to set up the wireless ones. Tech Support changed some IP settings in Vista to make the login screen appear.
Once I was able to login, I had a fit getting it to accept an SSID and WEP key. (thought I was going insane) Finally, I discovered that it had to be CAPITAL A to F in the Key. Saved and restarted the Wireless Access Point... Finally it all worked correctly. (also had to have my computer's wireless antenna off.)
Whew! What poor instructions with the Router - not one mention of Vista issues....!!! Hope it has no further issues!

I would go with WPA much better than WEP. Router instructions are never very good. |

I agree that instructions are often confusing, however to still be sending equipment with no reference to Vista is inexcusable. A simple insert from Vonage could be added even if it just said basically "connect the wires as shown on page XYZ and call us if you are using Vista" The tech support folk knew exactly what to do when called.
As a matter of fact the information that tech support has (the script sheet) could also be posted in the online Vonage help area as it is not yet posted. So that getting the D-Link and Vista to cooperate would be resolved much faster... increasing customer satisfaction greatly.
Vista has been out long enough that there is no excuse for this lapse.
thanks for your help and comments.... blessing on the other DLink VWR users who have vista! |

I have spent over 4.5 hrs with vonage support on the Vista - router problem and I still haven't had the problem fixed. They have sent me another router, I have taken the new HP computer back and gotten another brand of computer and I still can't connect to the web and have phone service simultaneously. I am so disgusted it looks like I will have to give up Vonage after enjoying it for so long. |
