ok, two important things I don't know yet.
1) are you still having the USB cable plugged in?
2)... do you know if the ethernet card was properly installed? because you said you weren't using it before, so there's the posibility that it's not installed...
do you know how to see the list of components/hardware?
if not, just do this:

START >RUN> type CMD> in cmd type IPCONFIG/ALL> if the ethernet card's drivers are installed, you should get some info...

WRITE THE PHYSICAL ADDRESS DOWN

DO YOU SEE AN IP ADDRESS AND DEFAULT GATEWAY?

it's something very simple to fix, don't worry. It seems like a lot of work, but you don't have to be an expert to understand and do this in less than 5 minutes, really.

I have no internet connection on my desktop that's connected to routers, but my wireless laptop has internet connection. In addition, there's no dial tone on phone, and on my router the telephone light indicator isn't lit. So, what's the problem and answer?

maybe I wasn't clear, sorry.

what I don't know is if you have the ethernet card's drivers installed... that's why, if you go to STAT, then RUN and type CMD... in CMD you type IPCONFIG/ALL you get the ethernet adapter's info.

If you do, you'll get a bunch of things... one of them is the physical addres.. write it down in a paper and keep it for later. Then, check what's the IP ADDRESS and what's THE DEFAULT GATEWAY

REMEMBER:

START > RUN > CMD > IPCONFIG/ALL

it's just typing in stuff.

could you post your computer's IP address and the default gateway?

Okay, lastnight I performed this and wrote physical address down.

IP address was present but Default Gateway was blank.

In closing, I prefer not to leave my IP address on this open forum..so, what can I do from here?

Just tell us if it was a 192.168.1.? address. If so, that's a private IP, and exclusive INSIDE your network, so it's of no use to anyone but you. If you're getting something else, then that might be a system default IP.

navydavy2001 was right, that was probably a private IP, but that's ok. If you didnt have a default gateway, then I imagine what's going on.

If you run Win XP, go to:

START > CONTROL PANNEL> NETWORK CONNECTIONS (having the classic view in the control pannel, you'll see) > right click on LOCAL AREA CONNECTION... choose SET STATIC IP AND PUT:

IP> 192.168.15.150
SUBNET MASK> 255.255.255.0
DEFAULT GATEWAY> 192.168.15.1

reboot the PC.

OF COURSE YOU DON'T... WON'T GET IT TO WORK IF THE USB IS PLUGGED IN.

if this still doesnt work, then you might need to MAC CLONE the device (that depends on who is your internet provider), which is pretty simple. It's just one more step, and it's actually all explained over vonage.com

just follow the instructions to plug the KIT and do what I shown to you in this post. you'll see you'll get both at the same time.
