it is a 169.254.2 address... |

Do yourself a big favor, and get a router. then put vonages system behind that. It's not the recommended way, but it works fine. Anything else is going to cuase you headaches. |

TO those of you who attempted to help, THANK YOU very much. I ended up having to get a USB to Ethernet adapter and so far so good.
Thanks again |

the ethernet to USB adapter was 30 dollars that you did not need to spend
if you connect your computer directly to the modem and use an ethernet cable and are able to get online then the issue is the is prob a mac clone or something of that nature
if you do not get internet then it is one of two things. the ethernet port on the PC or the ethernet port on the cable modem
if it was the cable modem the fix is free because your ISP should replace it for free unless you bought it
if it was the NIC card in your PC then the fix was 14.99 for a new one at your local PC shop..USB to ethernet adapters where are you using the adapter? to connect what to what..VOnage to PC? or Cable modem to PC
Next time you call tech support and can not understand the agent ask to be escalated to the NJ office, they will transfer you to someone who you can understand |

My modem was connected to PC by the USB cable,.. when Vonage is connected it was like this...Cable to modem to (ethernet)Vonage device (ethernet)to PC. Vonage would work but the internet was not getting through the Vonage device. Now the adapter is connecting the V device to the pc at the pc side of the ethernet cable. I will keep NJ in mind for next time (hopefully there won't be)
Thanx |
