They aren't using a Canadian Infrastructure for terminating, they are terminating from the USA. This can be verified by calling a Canadian Only Toll Free number which will not work with Vonage.

That's not the point. Regulation in Canada is severly different to the US, as a telecommunications company they still have to comply and pay for anything the CTRC telss them they must. They also do use Canadian infrastructure otherwise you wouldn't have your Canadian phone number. Again, it's not all about currency value, if they routed their calls through China you wouldn't be gaining anything as the other costs still exist.

Surprised Hmmm.. $39.99 vs $14.99. Not fair at all.

USA Vonage unlimited plan for only $14.99!

I am going to call in the morning and see what kind of deal I can get, I have been with Vonage for 1 year now.

I was offered 500 minutes for $15.99 or unlimited for $31.99, I chose the unlimited plan. There is no way I was going to leave Vonage and pay the cable company $44.99 for half the services.

This is called the Canadian Employee Plan.

They only took off that much. I guess it's better then nothing tho. Is that just for a month or forever? Did you have to threaten to leave Vonage to get that price?

I might give them a call. My Cable Internet just went up like $10! Sad

That is going to be my monthly charge every month now.

I didn't threaten anyone, I just said my cable company is offering VOIP phone for a certain amount and I have been with Vonage for 1 year, any chance on getting a better price.

I guess in the states people are getting a better rate.

My cable company sent me a letter telling me that my internet is going up to $52.99 a month. If I got digital cable or digital phone I could save money. Guess it is time for me to look for alternative.

You must be with Cogeco too? I just got the same letter. I can't believe how much it is now. Bad thing about it is there really arent any alternatives unless you go with DSL (which I will never do)

There's one company thats available where I live called WTC Communications. It's only $39.95 for 10mbps. Not sure how reliable they are thats the problem. If I didn't have to rely on internet for my phone it wouldnt really matter. I guess I'll just have to look around and see if there are any reviews or somethin.

I am with Cogeco.

Other than using DSL what other options are there? Bell is still $49.99 a month, Primus has it also, not sure on the price and if I can have a dry hook up.

Too bad none of my neighbors kept there wireless connection unsecured I could borrow from them!

I had a look at the company you metioned. I am in Trenton, so that won't work. Also that is wireless internet not sure how great that will be.

No, they do have cable internet as well. Is it just not available in your area?

Cable High Speed - Basic up to 10MBps $39.95, $64.95 16MBps
WTC Communications

Not sure you might have to pay the extra or go with DSL.

Try this
https://www.cia.com/

I've been with them for four months, they use the existing infrastructure (in my case Shaw) so there is no change in modems or lines just a lower price. First 3 months at $19.95 then $32.95 for cable which is ten bucks cheaper a month than Shaw was costing me. ( I have no bundles) . Very happy so far.

Just called and there are no discounts or deals available. She said they will have some promotions in december... to call back then.
