This is a cool new feature -- it transcribes your voicemail into text. I did a test message, and it works pretty good. Bad part is that it costs 25 cents a message, which is a little steep.
Here's the info from the Vonage site:
Experience the most advanced voicemail ever! Vonage Text automatically transcribes your voicemails to text so you can read them anywhere, anytime – even on your mobile device. With Vonage Text, you're in control.
Voicemail Plus just got better. You can still listen to your voicemail by dialing in from any phone or by logging in to your Vonage Online Account. Or simply listen to the audio file that is attached to the Vonage Text email we send you. But now you have the luxury of Vonage Text. Be the leader of the pack with Vonage Text.
Vonage Text - read, store, search and respond to your voicemail messages on your phone, laptop, or mobile device - whenever, wherever and however you choose! In just 3 easy steps we'll have you reading your voicemails. |

Do you know that someone has to listen to the voice mail to transcribe that into text?
This feature isn't available here in Canada, yet another feature we don't have and we still pay more for the service. |

I was presuming that it was all done by machine . . . The translation happens very very quickly. On our test call, within a couple of minutes of leaving the message, the Vonage Text was left. |

Thinks .25 per message is somewhat expensive and could add up fast. Also though I don't know all whats involved in deciphering the voice to text expense wise for Vonage.
But it seems to be a great feature for those needing something like that. Kudos to Vonage for a new added feature. |

One question - is the voicemail transcription included in the body of the email, or is it a text attachment? |

It's in the body of the email.
The more I think about it, the more I think that this service has to be machine translation, and not human translation. I think that the disclosure that voicemails may be reviewed by a human is so that they can do quality spotchecks. |

As a side joke just think if there was virtually no time limit on a message. 25 cents might be cheap for a dictation service. Oh well, just a thought. I have to agree it wouldn't work for me. But maybe somebody needs this service. |

I believe that they say that transcription is limited to the first "X" minutes (I think 2) of the message, regardless of length of the message. |
