Post subject: Hawking HBB1 Rebate
This will probably get deleted, like my earlier post on the subject...
For anyone who purchased an HBB1 from newegg when it was on sale for 24.99 with free shipping, please note that there is a $10 rebate available from Hawking for HBB1's purchased after 04-01-07
Effectively reduces price to $15 total!
Rebate form available on newegg.

EXCELLENT! I purchased mine from Newegg on 4/8 for 24.99 with free shipping. Glad I saved the box now too. Thanks for posting this.

I remember that your earlier post on the subject got deleted, and when I found the $10 rebate, I made an announcement in "The Cafeteria" section of this forum, but no one visited it except Dan.

I visited the "cafeteria" forum once. Too much like a toxic waste dump for me to waste any time watching it.

Hello,
I also bought this from Newegg.com, but I'm not able to login to its admin page. 192.168.229.61 just is not reachable. I even tried connecting my desktop directly to both of its ports with a static IP, but that address isn't even pingable.
How did you login?
Thanks.

Hi Mike!
If I may ask, what is your hardware setup? I have a cablemodem, and the Motorola VT2142
Vonage
device, with the Hawking HBB1 between the devices, as suggested in the HBB1's User Manual.
Do you have more equipment than I do? (Such as an additional separate router?)
If you have a setup similar to mine, this is what I did. On the ROUTER side of the HBB1 (the left side port), take the cable that came with the HBB1 and connect it to that port, then take the cable out of the BLUE port of your
Vonage
device, and plug in the cable from the HBB1 to that BLUE port. The cable that you removed from the BLUE port of your
Vonage
device should then go to the INTERNET port (right side port) of the HBB1.
It may take a little longer for the
Vonage
device to acquire a signal, but once the HBB1, broadband modem, and
Vonage
device are all power cycled on (in that order), it should work. (At least that's the power cycle order that worked best for me.)
Here is the URL for the Hawking HBB1, that gives you a lot of information you can download.
http://www.hawkingtech.com/support/details.php?CatID=36&FamID=80&ProdID=216
Also look for the upgraded firmware download you should load onto the HBB1 once you become able to access it's admin console page via the address you have for it. (Which is the correct address.) There's also a link to e-mail tech. support as well as 24/7 telephone tech. support. I hope all this helps you!

Thanks for your reply.
I've FiOS 5/2, and my setup is as follows:
ONT -> HBB1 -> Linksys -> PCs & ATA
I've tried connecting the Booster's Router port to a LAN port of my router (192.168.229.1), but it didn't work.
Shouldn't this have worked?
EDIT: You mean I'd connect the Booster's INTERNET port to a LAN port of my router? If so, I've tried connecting my PC to it with a static IP.

Shutdown pc, unplug router, unplug cable modem, unplug ata. Connect INTERNET port of HBB1 to cable modem. Connect ROUTER port of HBB1 to WAN port of router. Power up modem and allow to sync. Power up router and allow to complete self test. Power up HBB1 and wait for the blue boost light to stop rapid blinking. Power up ata and attached pcs.

No cable modem here. Besides, my problem is that I can't logon to its admin console.

You'd probably need a crossover cable to connect the pc directly to the HBB1 and access it. I don't know that you'd be able to access it anyway though. I think the admin interface remains inactive until it's polled the network to it's satisfaction and switches to an active state. Hawking tech support should be able to quickly answer whether or not it's a defective unit.
