Mole, you're a wealth of knowledge on these forums. I'm computer network savvy (by profession) but have never gotten into telephone networks, but their complexity seems utterly fascinating.
Can you recommend some tech manuals/books that would be good primers on how the phone network works/routes? With winter approaching, I'll have a lot of indoor time and need some good reading material to pass the time.
