"DON’T BELIEVE IT? Verizon said it themselves in court, that these patents, when they filed for them, would be used to “screw” competitors. "

Great for Verizon's Image! I would never buy anything from Verizon after this! |

Geeze, grow up will ya? A company patents IP it spends money to develop. The purpose is to attain a competitive advantage or screw the competition, if you prefer. I have no idea if VG or VZ will prevail in this fight, but whichever does fine for them. The loser is not screwed, just not as good at developing IP and therefore not as competitive. Maybe the result is that they go out of business. And there is a poll about whether anyone thinks VZ should control Voip? Silly. If they can defend their IP, bully for them. If not, bully for VG. The poll is a waste of mouse clicks. |

In our particular case it is not the company that loses. It is the public. When Verizon made their statements they were not pointing at Vonage. They were pointing at the industry. They were also trying to patent existing technology to corner the market. This approach squashes their competition. If Verizon prevails do not think they will sit idle and happy. The Voip industry will be in turmoil. I think the judges are finally weighing the good of the public. If the good of the public were not a concern we would not have anti-trust laws. Standard Oil and AT&T would remain the large corporations they once were. Reading the entire transcript reveals the true intent of Verizon. In reality it is not Vonage vs. Verizon. It is the public interest verses Verizon. While the judge may make some jester towards Verizon, in the end justice for the public will prevail. |
