I wonder if this could be a phone problem rather than a T-mobile problem.
As someone else posted, '+' is typically used by GSM phones in place of the international dialing prefix. This is because the international prefix changes between countries, and when roaming, GSM phones behave as if you were dialing from the country you are in. Therefore, if '+' wasn't used you would have to change all the numbers in your phonebook when moving between countries with different international prefixes.
It is almost as if your phone is interpreting the incoming '+' from Level 3 and trying to replace it with the international dialing prefix for the US which is 011. However, if this is the case, then it is getting it wrong anyway because it is dropping a '1' and the last two digits. |
We have found the problem/solution and it is a localized problem with T-Mobile and Level 3.
The theory is that as long as I avoid having a Vonage number where Level 3 is the carrier, I will avoid the caller ID problem. (I tried it on 4 different T-Mobile phones.) |
