What is a message waiting indicator ? How would I know on my home phone if I have a message or not without dialing *123 or the 11 digit VAN. |

your phone has to support it. Some phones light up or have a little envleope indicating that you have voicemail. |

That's cool. I guess I've never noticed that as a feature on cheap home phones. I like the idea though. Thanks |

Also, the dial tone when you pick up the phone will indicate if you have voicemail. When you have a message, the dial tone is broken up (beep beep beep beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep), but no messages has a single long dial tone (beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep). |

As you can tell I'm a new Vonage customer. Have a virtual # and waiting for my old # to xfer. So haven't had many/any calls. Hate to be paying for both my new and old phone service at the same time but I guess that's what it takes to xfer a #. My old # was via digital cable so it's an either/or deal for me. Thanks for the insight. |
