My two cents: People that need to rely on customer service and/or tech support, probably shouldn't be using that product anyway. It's the people that don't understand the basics that always seem to have the most problems. In this day and age, you shouldn't expect much from customer service/tech support no matter what product you are using. Vonage is not complicated. It's only as good as your internet connection and routing/switching equipment. Ocasionally you might have a bad adapter, but that's it. If you don't want to take the time to learn about a new product or learn about the product you are using, then stick with the basics. Your POTS service works so go back to that if you don't want to learn about the newest cost saving service, and just want to rag about customer service. I'm sorry but i'm tired of seeing posts form people that want to **** about customer service or tech support. In my opinion, people that have the most problems are the people that don't want to put 10 minutes into learning how their new product works but rather call up customer service for every little hiccup. Sure, occasionally you may have a problem that might throw off even the most informative/knowledgeable user but more often than not, it's the newbie that isn't willing to put any effort into learning about his/her new service.

I have only gotten to speak to TWO (2) people that sound american and talk very clear. One person out of the two, did have a texas type accent though.

I am not sure if their customer support calling center is based overseas or if they just have a lot of middle eastern people working for them. but, I think some of the people REALLY need to take speach therapy courses.
Wow!!!! This guy even wants to complain about american accents! How many languages do you speak? One? Cut these people some slack, they are probably more educated than you even if their english is not perfect.

Outsourced support is the worst available. The persons talk like robots, there ability to do anything is severely hindered by the mileage between support and actual engineers or company reps.
I would suspect that is the reason that i was lied to about the service disconnect as well.

Actually, I really like the techs over there that have British accents. They have taken more than enough time to become proficient with the language.

And, by the way, I speak 3 languages. I'm not proficient with 2 of them yet, mind you, but I'm not trying to answer technical service calls either.

The neat thing I've seen with languages (I have a conversational knowledge of Spanish, fluent English.) is that things like router in english are the same in spanish.

The blue cable..
El cable azul... etc.

I have seen the same thing elsewhere. I am conversationally fluent in Japanese, and many of our computer related words (as well as many other words) are the same in Japanese. They are spoken slightly different due to their alphabet and pronunciation system, but essentially the same with an extra vowel usually.
