Can someone please tell me why with all the service issues, outages, etc would
Vonage
be still considered a preferred
Voip
provider for us?
I joined
Vonage
because of the cost basically, it did save me money but the headaches of all the service issues is getting heavier and heavier to justify now.

simply because
Vonage
has been in the
Voip
business for as long as i can remember. correct if im wrong, i believe
Vonage
is the first
Voip
provider that is able to provide a phone service that doesnt sound as crappy as mobile phones at a cheaper price. its a risky thing to have
Voip
service since it would entirely rely on our internet but knowing that they have been using the technology for a while now gives me confidence that whenever there would be trouble issues with the service they would be able to fix it

I'm sticking with
Vonage
until they turn out the lights or until the phone service becomes unreliable. I guess I've been one of the lucky ones, in the 15 months that I've had
Vonage
I've never noticed a service outage in my area. With the exceptional features, land-line like call quality and cost savings I'm here to stay until the very end.

But....why stick it out? Why should any consumers have to put up with constant outages, poor service, etc. That is what I'm driving at. Who cares about being loyal, that doesn't mean squat to them. Are they going to give you a "free service" or "extra free month" for being so loyal to them? No....as long as you have a valid credit card and pay on time, they will like you. this is a bottom line business not a popularity contest.
I guess if you've been lucky in not having outages, than good for you but you can clearly see from this forum that a number of people have been affected. Has
Vonage
once in the last number of weeks or couple months with all the issues, indicate to those affected what exactly is the problem, NO. just a generic message. Has
Vonage
ever tried to "make it right" for all the issues and problems, NO.
Doesn't matter how long they have been doing it, other providers can provide the same thing, it comes down to customer service and service quality which have been missing lately here.

People don't post when the service is outstanding. It is human nature to whine and ****, but hardly ever read or hear how great something is.

In response to this post, I have had
Vonage
for over two years with no problems what so ever. I have decided that I will ride out the storm and see what happens. I use all the features and love the low price. I'm willing to pay more if absoutely necessary. I also have a very reliable ISP, Road Runner Eastern Carolina. Very few outagesfor over 5 years.

Vonage
has 24/7 customer service and technical support to help us if we have service trouble.
have you had any other
Voip
service aside from
Vonage
? do you have other
Voip
provider to compare the service with? i bet not coz if you have then you would know what they are experiencing. bottom line is yes its never bout popularity, its how long have they used the technology which means the longer theyre using it the bigger the chances to know the work around for service issues.

Post subject: LONG time customer
I have been a
Vonage
customer for over 4 years. As with anything else, I 've had a few problems, but they never lasted long. They even replaced my ATA after it was hit by lightening - FREE. Overall can not complain. I just hope they get out of their current problems.

"But....why stick it out?"
Mainly, because I've been pretty satisfied with the service, like the features and like the cost. AND,
Vonage
is the only
Voip
service that allows me to keep my phone number. I live in a rural area, and none of the other
Voip
companies have my exchange in their systems. So, for me, the only choices are a) keep
Vonage
; b) go back to my Sprint/Embarq land line; or c) give up on a home phone and use cell phones only.
Vonage
is my preference, at least now.
