so i bought this Motorola VT2142 router with a Vonage line, so i am wondering if i purchase another Vonage line, do i have to purchase a separate router for that line or can i configure my present Motorola VT2142 router so that the new line can be accessed using the second remaining phone outlet on the back of the very router.
OK if you didnt quite follows, lets try again
I have one router and two Vonage lines (two different number ofcourse) . I want to use the one router and be able two access the two Vonage number from that one box.
if you refer to the following "diagram" it might draw a picture of what i am trying to ask

Yes. That's what the second port is there for.
Go to the www.vonage.com home page, and click on the "Add a second line and save - two months free" promo link that is there. Follow the prompts (which I assume will have you log into your Vonage web account) and it will walk you through the process of setting up your second phone line on your PHONE2 port of your existing Vonage device.
EDIT: My bad - the "two months free" is not a link, there's a phone number there to call. In any case, call the number and they'll set it up for you. You can also log into your account and (under add-ons) use the "add a line" feature, but I don't think you get the two free months on that.
Note: I assume it goes without saying, but... you of course will be paying for that second phone line after the 2 month promo - it's not a freebie.
Also, be sure to check your bandwidth to make sure it supports two lines. |
