Just great, the sketchy service that Vonage has been calling Voip just stopped working altogether, and won't even connect to the network. Vonage has posted this on their site:
| Quote: | | At this time some customers may be experiencing difficulty receiving a dial tone or placing outbound calls. Our engineers are aware of this issue and working to resolve it as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. |
I am fed up with Vonage and their lack of quality. Every call I make has mad echo (and they won't admit to it). It's my mother's birthday today in Switzerland, and would have liked to congratulate her before it gets too late over there.
I'm curious if roscopco is finally having a problem with Vonage. Try defending this one. |

My phone was working 10 am, my wife called me at work. I came home around 2:30 - 3 pm and the phone was working, so I would say my phone was working during your outage. |

No problems with my 416 number today, Been making and taking calls all day.
I agree about what a poster above says about echo, though. It is becoming an increasing problem for me..now on about 20% of calls, compared with no echo at all for a couple of years. I use it in Canada and abroad (with different ATAs and different phones) and the issue is becoming more prevalent at all locations. |

I am in Ontario, but using a 506 area code. I have been having some echo problems also, but not when dialing another number in a 506 area code. |

This one level 3 tech rep (I believe it was level 3) told me to try pinging the ip's that Vonage uses to connect to POTS lines. One of them was normal, but the other lagged like crazy. The one that lagged was the primary one, which might explain why most of the time I have crazy echo. I'll try contacting my ISP (Cogeco) to see if it's an ISP problem, or if the problem lies with Vonage (although I have a suspicion that they will blame each other). |

My provider in Canada is also Cogeco, and I get echo from time to time. However, I use Vonage in Brazil with a much slower connection much of the time, from where the latency is understandably much greater because of distance. While I get echo there sometimes as well, i probably get less--and certainly no more--than with Cogeco So that would rule out latency as an issue in my case, I'd say. |
