Things are still OK with my line (I'm on proxy s) sent and received pstn calls about 20 min ago.

The reason I asked about the busy speed - Vonage can't do a network availability forward until the call gets onto the Vonage network. If the gateways from pstn->vonage were unavailable I'd expect the pstn caller to get a fast busy (circuits busy or "reorder" signal) and no forwarding since the call never got on to Vonage.

How do you find out what proxy you are on, that might be something to jot down for future reference

I did a packet capture on the WAN for a minute or two and looked at the resulting file with etherial. The VTA does a SIP register every 30 seconds or so.

I spoke with Vonage CS and was advised the issue with the inbound busy signal is a Verizon issue, they cut the fiber optic line and calls can not route through Verizon leased numbers. No status on when or if this will be fixed! Evil or Very Mad

I was a victim of the busy signal on inbound calls earlier today, but now it seems to be back up again - at least in the Rochester, NY area.

I'm also back in business in Albany.
However it does sound odd that there would be a single point of failure that was capable of shuting down so much of our geographic service area. Usually there are redundent parallel paths to route around a problem or a fiber ring system like the undersea ARCOS-1 cable (Americas Region Caribbean Ring System - Google it if you'r interested) where each point can still be fed even if the ring is broken.
Thanks for letting me know that I had company in this issue.
