Post subject: Click-2-Call flaky???
I haven't seen anyone else post recently about problems with C2C, but I am having a lot of problems with it.
This has been going on for a couple months so I don't think its related to all the problems of the past week or so.
What happens is that after the C2C program does its thing, my phone rings as expected, then its silent, the call never completes. When working the activity page shows an inbound call with a caller ID of C2C-xxxxxxxxxx then an outbound call to the number. When its not working, I still get the first C2C inbound call, but it never shows the outbound call.
I've opened two tickets with
Vonage
on this and I just get a generic response back saying they reset my device and it should be working. It has never started working after they do this.
Vonage
has inferred in their responses that my adapter may be flaky.
If I don't use it for a day or two, it seems to start working again. But if I use it for several calls in a row, the first couple will work, then it starts failing as described above. Once it starts failing, it usually doesn't work for a couple days, then it will start working again.
I'm pretty sure its not an adapter problem (why would it be?? this appears to be a problem on their end). I don't have any other problems with
Vonage
at all. I also have two adapters and have swapped them and have the same exact problem and symptoms on both adapters. I also have the C2C program installed on two computers and the symptoms are the same from both. I'm pretty sure its not the adapter and its not the computer running C2C. Anyone have any ideas?

I am having the same problem:
- select a number on the screen and hit the F6
- phone rings
- I pick it up..nothing
The online "Activity Index" shows the calls
SimulRing is disabled.
It used to work fine...I am really missing it.

I feel better now that I know I'm not the only one having trouble.
Is there anyone reading this who uses it regularly (at least a couple calls a day) thats not having problems?

When I was testing C2C applications I used to have problems similar to what you describe. I found that manually placing an outgoing call resolved my issues. At the time I believed it had something to do with the order in which the parties disconnected leaving the system in a bad state.
Does manually placing an outgoing call reset C2C state?
Can you attempt to stay on the line until the other party disconnects and see if that prevents the problem from occurring?

Darn...it didn't work!
Test 1: Call via
Vonage
to cell using buttons on phone. Hangup first on cell phone, then on phone - Try C2C to cell - Failed
Test 2: Call via
Vonage
to cell using buttons on phone. Hangup first on phone, then on cell phone - Try C2C to cell - Failed
(maybe it has something to do with voicemail? I read it somewhere if you have a voicemail, and the line is 'beeping' when you first pick up, C2C doesn't work)
Test 3: Call via cell to
Vonage
. Leave a voice mail. - Try C2C to cell - Failed
Test 4: Call via
Vonage
to voice mail. delete voice mail. - Try C2C to cell - Failed
oh well...

I'm not sure what you mean by manually placing a call. Are you meaning pick up the phone and dial normally (don't use c2c) or do you mean something else like manually keying the number into c2c instead of using the F6 key?
If you mean dialing normally, then yes, we make a lot of calls, and every time c2c fails, we hand dial the number anyway. Using c2c after that it still fails. Once it starts failing, it will pretty much fail the rest of the day and usually the next day as well.
As far as hanging onto the call until the other party disconnects, no, we haven't tried that, but are you saying thats what actually seems to work for you? I guess I can't see this as a fix (after all C2C just signals the switch to place the call, it doesn't monitor the call, I can't see how a previous call termination would affect the next call), but if someone can actually verify this does work I can watch this situation closer.

No, wilderf353 has proven to me the problems he is having are not the same ones I have experienced in the past. I only suffered temporary C2C problems, never anything permanent as is being documented here.
However, it would be interesting to see the response given by the C2C web server when C2C is not working. This could be accomplished by using htt

Just tried using the URL...
Call failed as originally described.
The response back from the web server was:
000:Request Successful

Does this happen after you have used click-2-call a few times? I remember there was a bug when it first came out, where after 7-10 uses of click to call, your device would stop reading the C-2-C data correctly resulting in hung lines or call not completing. If you reboot your device after getting an error does c-2-c start working again? Perhaps this bug was never actually resolved. I will give it a few tries tomorrow to see how mine is acting.

Up until about a month ago I used to remove the device every weekend and take it to another location. (At that time it was the cisco adapter). Upon returning home, quite often C2C still didn't work, especially if I attempted to use it over the weekend. So that should count as a reset.
More recently I obtained a 2nd device (this one a linksys pap2). I put the linksys at home and put the cisco at my weekend location. When I do the "Move a line" if I watch the devices (both the cisco and linksys) I can see them doing what appears to be a reset anyway. Also, I don't know if the move a line feature is buggy or if its the linksys but quite often I have to reset the linksys to get it working again after the move a line, so the linksys gets reset most Sunday nights anyway.
In either case, once C2C fails, its usually a couple days before it starts working again.
Also,
Vonage
claims to have reset my device remotely when it was acting up (the 2nd time they did it for some reason it never sync'd back up so I had to pull the plug, then it sync'd fine) Neither time did it actually fix anything.
