Post subject: Dead Line
We have had
Vonage
for one month and were not too pleased with it as is but now we have lost dial tone in both phones. After 2 day without service and
Vonage
scratching their heads, we have service in one phone by hooking the one phone directly into the
Vonage
Box.
The problem is we can't use the phone upstairs. They told us when we initially set it up that we could tie the second phone into the shstem by using a splitter through the house system which we did and it worked. Now it does not and
Vonage
says don't use a splitter. They want to send out a technician at our expense 99 dollars worth. We are not computer people and have no idea how to reset etc. What changed that we don't have service?
Thanks

Navydavy2001 has given you the best advice when posting to this forum. If you have dial tone on one line, then I would do some basic trouble shooting. Unplug the telephone wiring from the back of the
Vonage
phone adapter and plug in a single line hardwired telephone. Do you have dial tone on each line? Can you make and receive calls on each line? If so, then wiring is your problem. Why this changed is anyones guess. Perhaps the wind moved a wire, or a creature has chewed through a wire, or a wire was broken and not just quit making contact.
We all remember the "old" days when the phone company provided service to each telephone as well as serviced the telephone. Now,
Vonage
provides the dial tone to the back of the phone adapter. What we do with that dial tone is up to us AND is also OUR problem. That sometimes is hard to understand and hard to swallow at times. I look forward to your reply.
