I had the vt1005 unit for about a month, cancelled all the local phones since it worked so well. I put it behind a linksys router without any problems and voice quality was great. We took the VT1005 to Europe 3 weeks ago where most hotels we stayed at had high speed. It was great. When we got home, the boot up lights had a strange sequence 2 short, pause, 7 short, 2 quick, 1 long, pause, repeat. During each cycle the cable connection dies for about one second (all ethernet lights die) and then come back on. One call to Tech support, got raised to second tier quickly, we managed to connect intermittently to PC using 192.168.102.X static address and tech support eventually was able to download a diagnostic patch to the VT and reported in contact with the unit. After all downloads to VT were updated, unit still wouldn't ring or provide dialtone. The only way I could get a steady green light on VT would be to access it via the PC to bring up the setup pages. Otherwise, the strange light sequence continues after each bootup. So no phone for a few days.
Anyway, tech support was stumped but RMA'd a new linksys unit. I was happy with tech support's response. Hopefully, the linksys unit has some form of hardware/firmware reset which the VT does not. I'm assuming the light sequence is a Vonage sequence since it is not described in the MOT literature? |
