Post subject: Buffalo w/ DD-WRT and VT2442
Well I have had
Vonage
for awhile now and just recently I started having problems.
I have a buffalo router with DD-WRT on it and it works great.
But recently my connection has been timing out.
So I did a little trouble shooting and realized when I connect
the vt2442 it causes the timeout.
Any Ideas??
Setup is like this:

Layout looks fine. Does connecting the vt2442 only lead to one timeout per connection of ethernet cable, or multiples if left connected? Have you thoroughly checked the DHCP and IP settings? Does DD-WRT implement spanning tree protocol? Could there be some kind of conflict between any service or IP address on your file server and the
Vonage
services or IP addresses that the vt2442 might be looking for or using? Keep in mind that such services or IP addresses could have been changed by
Vonage
during a recent update. I had a vt2442 for a while, but the Linksys adapters seem to be a bit more predictable.
EDIT: I now realize that you're using cable rather than DSL. Please be more specific about the type of timeout.
thanks

Well stuff will start to load and then just timeout. Like say a webpage it will load the title and maybe some text then stop. If you hit reload a couple times it sometimes makes the connection.
DHCP for the DD-WRT assigns all the pc's and even the VT2442 a local ip. (192.168.1.34)
The file server no it just a simple network drive setup from an old pc I had. Also tested this to figure out what was causing the time out.
Do you think I should set up a Router Rip?

Hmmm. Just a hunch, but you might try turning off the local DNS server on the DD-WRT Buffalo (assuming it has one since the similar Sveasoft firmware does), because it might be caching the special
Vonage
DNS used by the Motorola VT2442 adapter at the expense of your ISP assigned DNS. The
Vonage
DNS probably isn't much good other than for finding the provisioning and SIP servers, and doesn't need to be cached in any case.
