Came home to a flashing red light on the telephone indicating I had messages waiting to be heard. Picked up the phone only to discover I had no dial tone. Looked at my Cable modem and all the lights where off. OK I'll deal with this later I thought right now I want to hear my waiting messages.
I call my Vonage phone number via my cell phone and hear my own cell phone greeting. Oh yea that's right I have it set to forward to my cell in case the network is down I realize.
So the question is this. How does one get their messages if they can't use their Vonage service to check them?
TIA Jim |

Call your Vonage number from any phone. When Voicemail comes on, press * . You should then be able to enter your PIN and proceed as usual. |

Gary,
Thank you for the feedback. The problem is that when I call my Vonage number even from a neighbors house it rings straight through to my cell phone therefore never giving me a chance to here the VM and press the *.
Do you know if Vonage has an 800 number one call to retreive messages?
Thanks Jim |

if you want to check your voicemail if internet is down, you can use your neighbors phone or your cellphone..
however, you need to get your access number first. you can get your access numbers at the Vonage website. might as well save it to your cellphone phonebook.
when your at Vonage website, click on features then voicemail plus after that on the lower right side, you will see there
check your voicemail 3 ways
for non-vonage phone choose the area code of the phone your going to use. (ex. cellphone) let say the area code of your cell phone is 201
the access number is 1-201-267-0626
you need to dial the access number, after hearing the voice prompt press * again a voice prompt asking for the voicemail box number that would be your Vonage phone number after that another voice asking for the pin that would be the pin number of your voicemail. after that just follow the voice promt..
thank you |
