Maybe, but have you thought of this...Did those companies affected Verizon's profit less so Verizon just ignored COX, Time Warner and other Cable COs? Could it be that Vonage took a lot of Verizon's market share when Vonage came to operate? Did a lot of Verizon customers became Vonage customers? Hmm, there are lots of former Verizon customers here right?Eyy what do you say guys? Any ideas? Idea

Hard to say. Comcast, Cox, and TW use a completely different protocol, as I understand it. They may be using a different method for bridging to POTS lines, too, so they may not be infringing.

However, if they are - I suspect there's a good reason why they chose Vonage first. Vonage isn't making a profit. They cannot sustain a long, protracted court battle. Eventually, Verizon can bleed them dry by simply litigating them to death, then swoop in and buy the remains of the company (technology that no one but Verizon can use, and therefore it has little value as an ongoing concern to anyone BUT Verizon).

The cable companies, even if they are infringing, are not as easy targets. Verizon is destroying a direct competitor. They'll go after the more incidental competitors later.

I'm a bit behind in this forum, I haven't checked in for a while. My wife told me about the Verizon/Vonage lawsuit last week and about the decision that they couldn't sign up new customers. The other day I saw a Vonage commercial on tv so I knew that part must have changed. I just went through all the comments on this thread and I have to admit it is interesting!

I'm amazed at how many people are hitting the panic button and thinking about jumping ship. There is no way on God's green earth that our phone service will just be "turned off." These type of law suits happen all the time and this may get dragged on for years before something really comes out of it.

I'm not worried one bit. I'm staying with Vonage and I'm sure either a settelment will come out of this or David will slay Goliath. In either case I'm willing to bet one year from now I'll still be using Vonage. And unfortunately this case will still be going on.

CEO Mike Snyder is stepping down and Citron will be taking over operations- apparently short term. He announced a huge advertising cut for this year to lessen the bleeding.

sheezhot you rock! I thought this wouldn't work on a Vonage phone and I have never seen documentation on this in the Vonage info. This saves me so much time especially during peak Vonage web site usage times.

I am fearful as well it may be time to jump ship. I have been pleased with Vonage until the past month or so when the line quality on my fax machine went bonkers. Talking to tech support in India was like taking a 2'x4' and banging it against my head.
My fear is Vonage will go dark and my business will be screwed. I use Vonage as my sole business phone provider and am advertised in Yellow Book etc. If the phone goes dead I'm basically out of business too...
What are other business owners doing?

Same fears here, we are reliant on the Vonage technology for all of our incoming service and new business inquiries. I did do a bunch of research up front before going with Vonage. So I am pretty familiar with the options out there, as for now I am hanging tight and monitoring this all very very closely.

I do not remember in recent days a company that has been so besieged ( other than napster, maybe kazaa) by the good ole boy network. I honestly wish that I knew the real story behind the Verizon suit.

So that I would be able to make a better decision as to my own business being able to rely on Vonage for our calls. on the upside service seems much better recently : )
