I've had Vonage since 8/2003. In the last couple months I've really had issues with it. Any help is appreciated.
1. Your location - Indianapolis
2. Your ISP name and type (cable, DSL, wireless etc) - Comcast
3. Upload and download speeds - Ugggg download fluctuates between 1.3 MPS and 11 MPS. Mostly it's around 4-5mps. DL spead is continuously 1.6.
4. Modem make and model - RCA DCM315
5. Router - Netgear WGR 614 v6
6. Type of Vonage adapter: - CISCO ATA 186
7. Setup of Network ie Modem---->Vonage Adapter-->PC modem-->WGR 614-->Vonage Adapter + PC+PC
8. Issue you are experiencing - Echoing, dropped calls, and overall bad call quality.
9. Run this Voip Test - Like an idiot, I ran this test when I first got here and i musta done it one too many times. I did download MyVoIPSpeed and continually have gotten around 40-50 QOS. The biggest thing that's out of wack is my average jitter. It's somewhere between 13 and 35ms but hangs somewhere around 27ms.
It seems that Vonage has gotten worse over the years, to the point now it really seems like a waste of my money. I love the service, it's just almost to the point that it's unusable. Any suggestions? I'm willing to buy new equipment if I have to.... |

You should be able to run the forum test again after 24 hours. In the meanwhile, you can run a test at www.testyourvoip.com . Please post the detailed results here. Also, try plugging your adapter directly into the modem. Does that improve things? |

Your packet discards are high in both directions- high enough to explain poor quality calls. Overall, your jitter and delay numbers are too high. Try plugging your computer directly into the modem and repeating the test. Any better?
Did you try plugging the Vonage adapter directly into the modem? What results? |
