Okay, here's the deal.

We have a Verizon Fios connection and the standard issue D-Link wireless router that it came with. We have the motorola vt2142 adapter installed behind the router, according to the manual. Today I tried to upgrade our router to the D-Link 624m wireless model to share our internet connection.

Everything went to hell.

We have internet, but we can't get the Vonage adapter to work for the life of us. The phone light came on once, but shut off after about 1 minute. I tried rebooting the power cycle, but that had no effect. I was able to get service for about 30 seconds by cloning the mac address in my router setup. Can anyone help? I would greatly appreciate it.

I had the same problem when I switched my wireless router. After several minutes of frustration, I called(via cell ph) the Vonage tech support. It even took the technician about 20 to 30 minutes to get my phone lines to work. Nothing they had me to do on my end worked. He said that he had to make some adjustments on his end. Well, since that initial call, everything has worked.

I called tech support, but the one time I was able to get a hold of someone he told me to call back in around 5 hours, so I'm turning to the internet for help.

Gee, I've never been told to call back when calling tech support. In fact, I've never been on hold for a long period of time. I don't know anything about the technical workings of the system. However, I would suggest another call to tech support, especially since Vonage had to make some adjustments on their end. Just curious, but which wireless router are you setting up? I had trouble getting the Motorola VT2542 phone lines to work. I did not have problems setting up the Linksys WRTP54G.

Does everything still work if you go back to the old router? Is the new router running a firewall? If so, what happens if you turn it off?

The router I'm setting up is the D-Link 624M. It seems to be working fine. I've got internet and a wireless signal, just no phone. It's weird.

Actually, yes. If I go back to the old D-Link, the phone seems to work. I'm not sure if the router is running a firewall or not; is that something I can check by putting the IP address in the browser?
