I have a land line number that I need to forward to my Vonage number. I need to some sort of hardware solution that will allow me to plug in my land line and when a call comes in that it will forward to my Vonage line. The land line provider does not have call forwarding so I need some sort of hardware solution.
Thanks |

Without call forwarding on that line you'd still need another landline to forward the call into. Meanwhile the caller's network will have registered the call as completed as of the time your device would have forwarded it on.
Probably the best approach is to try to get it ported to a Vonage virtual number. |

You can't port in as a virtual number. You would have to port in as a physical line, wait for the transfer to complete, then call them back and have them do a number change from a real line to a virtual line. If you mention it to them when you sign up they may be willing to just charge you for a virtual number rather than for the price of a physical line, I don't know.
Your best bet though is to get in touch with the people in support at corporate though, good luck if you try to get the outsourced people to understand what you are trying to accomplish. |

The problem is I have an office in Mexico it has a local number when I am not there which is most of the time I need it to forward to my Vonage number. There is no way to port it or call forward. I need a phone or modem or a switch or something that is hardware based that will do this. |

so let's get this straight. Your land line phone is in mexico and therefore, it has a mexico phone number? You want to forward all calls to the Vonage # which is a US number?
Wouldn't that be ridiculously expensive since it's an international call in the first place?
I am sure there are ways to do this but this is really not the forum or place to ask this question since it's unrelated to Vonage. It's a mexico telco type problem from what I can see.
I am still unclear as to why you would want to forward a mexico land line to a US phone number. |

The reason I want to forward my landline phone in Mexico to my Vonage number is first it costs my very poor customers nothing to reach me and I take it everywhere and I must stay in contact with all the customers that call me... I even use a softphone while traveling. I cannot believe there is not a device that will take an incoming call and immediately forward it to another number...In this case my Vonage number. |

I believe you are looking for an "Analog Telephone Adapter", an ATA. Numerous devices are available. I have no experience with these and cannot advise you on hardware models. I have read owner's manuals for a few. The best allow you to call your PSTN home phone and dial out on the Voip line (or vice versa). Here's an explanation, but features vary greatly. Read carefully for your own required uses. Analog Telephone Adapter explanation
************* On edit: Here is the best description I could find. I could not find a user manual, but the Data Sheet has a good overview. You may require a device matched to Mexican voltages, etc. A link is available at SPA-3000 Info On the flip down, select SPA-3000 v1 (and click downloads button) (**Note: for use in Mexico, select mexican download site on this page)
On the next page, select "data sheet" Requires PDF Reader ************** Better yet: At the SPA-3000 link (above) select from the drop-down "SPA3102". There is an excellent User Manual. Very informative. The 3102 is an upgrade from the 3000 model. Remember to purchase a device usable with Mexican phone systems.
This is not a recommendation for the Linksys devices. It does give a good overview of this and similar devices. |

I also suggest a Mexican Virtual Number.
This way, you forward calls from your mexican landline to your mexican virtual number, which in turn forwards the calls automatically to your Vonage device.
This way you won't get international toll charges by forwarding your landline to your US Vonage number directly.
Good luck with the ATA suggested above, I've never heard of anything like that. |
