Does anyone know where i can find a list of Voicemail access numbers that are listed based on physical area rather than area code. I have found a list based on area codes but as I travel around I do not know which area code I am in all the time. Of course if there is a central number (1800 perhaps) then picking up or checking voicemail would be as easy as finding any phone wherever i am and be free. I know I can phone my own number and pick up voicemail (pressing # to interupt my own message and entering my phone number again and pin..this was from trial and error and is not advertised i think) but this is expensive way just to check voicemail. I am based in Canada and travel frequently to US Thanks for any help Tubbs |

Thanks Mark I am aware this list and have a print out By the way It has several omissions (eg 616 and 269 in michigan alone ) but what im realy looking for is a 1800 number I can call from where ever I am and for free. Failing that a list based on state and area. I can find the nearest code based on geographical location. I know the phone book can help probably but im lazy and cheap. Tubbs |

don't know about an 800 number, but you can always do what I do -- call home, hit * and it will ask for your password and you're in voicemail just like always. I don't even know the local access number.

Just for fun, I called Customer Service and asked if they had a list by major cities (or any list by cities) of access numbers.
I was told, no. Dont you know what area code you are in, and I added that though I may be in one, another close one may be a "free" call.
The customer service seemed "stunned". |

Exactly my point kry10. Also as they add more calling areas they have to update the voicemail access numbers which lag behind. Case in point I travel from Canada to Grand Rapids Michigan on Monday. At night I want to Check my Voice mail. 616 is the area code for Grand Rapids (as listed under availablity section) but they have no Voicemail access for that area (that I can find) . I have to search for the code nearest so I can get a free to check voicemail. If their were just one easy 1800 number to phone no Voicemail list to update, no multiple number list to carry, easy to use.. I take it no one knows a 1800 Voicemail access number?? BTW Laureltn, I dont want to call my own number to retreive Voicemail as this is international and costs money$$$. Tubbs |

Gotcha. I suppose you don't have computer access in these times to where you can just check via email or web? If not, would it be cost-effective, if there isn't an 800 number, to add an 800 number to your account and only use it to check voice mail?
I honestly don't recall ever seeing an 800 number for VM. I have the local one from when I got the my accounts set up and that's it.
good luck.

Of course getting a 1800 number costs money and ive already said im 'cheap cheap' .. But also we in Canada are the second cousins and we dont get these features like you in the US or do we get Click to call and our unlimited plan in 45$cdn alot more than the equivelent of 25$ you pay. Maybe someone at Vonage will read this and take note.. plus A 1800 voicemail access number would be very useful..! |

My prayers have been answered it seems but only partly I didnt see this list before but now I know where the area codes are so I can select the most appropriate voicemail access. http://www.vonage-forum.com/areacodes.html ? Where is the JPG of the map picture showing the area codes as seen thumbnail on the area code news under 'Vonage news' section. THKS Tubbs |
