Hello,
I currrently pay Vonage $32.53 per month for unlimited service (24.99) plus regulatory fees and taxes. I am based in NYC, but would like to lower my total cost by lowering fees and taxes. Any idea which states provide the lowest total cost for the plan I have?
Thanks, |

Well how long have you been a Vonage customer? Try asking them if you could avail already of the $19.99 step up plan (12mos contract). Still same features with the 24.99 except $5 less although if you disconnect less than the contract you'll pay $50 disco fee. If you have no problems with the service then go for it.
That's the advise I could give you without having to change your state. |

Thanks for the information. Any idea where is the information for this on their website? I am happy with their service, as I have have had it for 3-4 years now.
In any case, I am still curious what fees other states are charging. |

In PA, I pay the following fees above the quoted rate:
Regulatory Recovery Fee Emergency 911 Cost Recovery Federal Universal Service Fee
I'm on the $14.99 plan so my fees won't compare apples-to-apples with yours, but they're $0.99, $0.99, and $0.92, respectively. |

I'm pretty sure it's linked to your billing address. Do you have a summer home? Could you possibly change the address to another state? |

In WA it's more or less:
Premium Unlimited Plan for $24.99 FET Tax $0.75 * Regulatory Recovery Fee $1.50 ---------------------------------------------- Total Amount: $27.24
flactuates between that to $28++
*taxes may vary from time to time |

The telephone FET was repealed last year (it was enacted to pay off the Spanish American War). You shouldn't be charged that any more. |
