I just bought the WRTP54G router. Everything works EXCEPT my phone lines. I already had a previous Vonage account that worked.
I've searched and read some of the threads dealing with this router and it's obvious there have been problems.
Can someone please help this noob (I'm not wireless router literate at all) get things up and running? I've tried unplugged all lines and have gone through all of that with no success.
If anyone can give me a step by step SIMPLE instruction of how to get this going, or point me to the correct thread, I would greatly appreciate it. If something doesn't work soon I'm just going to cancel my Vonage account and just stick with my cell phone.
Thank you very much. |

Well, to start, did you register your new router to your account? If you did not, go here http://vonage.com/retail_subscribe/ and follow the steps to add your device to your account. Without doing this, the phone lines will never come up and it will only function as a router. |

Once you have that sorted, check out the firmware version number on the upper right corner of the login screen. It should read 1.00.62 - if it reads anything older than that, you may need to "nudge" it into upgrading the firmware.

Step 1 in the page above is usually sufficient to get the firmware upgraded, but the rest of the steps are there just in case. |

I had a similar problem when I purchased the WRTP54G. With a lot of patience and a level 2 technician at Vonage, it took about 30 minutes to get my phone lines up and working. In fact, I just recently switched my router to the Motorola VT2542 that I purchased directly from Vonage. It was registered with Vonage and I had the same problem with the phone lines not working. Again, I called Vonage and it took the technician about 30 minutes to get my phone lines working. The technician had me resetting and resetting and resetting. It took resetting, going to the 192.168.15.1, and adjustments from Vonage to get my lines working. |
