In the end, I returned the router for the "free" VT-2142. I first put it in front of the router but got better results putting the TrendNet router first. So I agree with the people that say let your router handle the QoS if it has that feature versus the
Vonage
devices. I use this setup with Uniden whole house cordless phones.
I have been a
Vonage
customer for 13 months now and I cannot stress enough that you will be much happier purchasing a separate router that supports QoS and place it directly facing the internet with you phones behind it. DO NOT use your
Vonage
router/phone adapter as your router, ONLY use it as a phone adapter and you will see much better performance!
For QoS I have tried both the Hawking HBB1 broadband "booster" and the D-Link DI-724U wireless router (individually, not together) and I cannot speak highly enough about the D-Link. If you are looking for a wireless router to use with
Vonage
the QoS is incredible. Since I switched to this router I no longer have any dropped calls or echoing issues.

Ok,, just adding my input to this one. I have the 8100, like you are asking about,, i got mine thru Best buy for $99.99 with and instant $99.99 rebate,, and 2 free handsets once you were a
Vonage
customer for over 6 weeks. I have a business line on
Vonage
and to be honest,, i have had some problems with the service,, 90% of the time it is fine,, but the other 10% is not,, and like i said it is a business line,, which means,, $$$ out of my pocket when it is out. I have Road Runner Internet, and the digital phone offered thru them.. so when my
Vonage
is down,, at least i can depend on my R/R to make my calls,, and incoming one's transferred..... Go for the best options,, local service thru your cable provider for your phone,, and the 8100 for the vonage,, it may cost you alittle more,, but if you are using the
Vonage
for business,, its the safest way to go.
