PostPosted: Tue Apr 03, 2007 11:31 am    Post subject: Waiting for proxy registration when trying to use a V-PHONE Reply with quote Back to top

Good morning
First of all, I'm not a specialist in IP, DSN etc .....
I have a V-PHONE who is working 100% in the US. I'm now in France and using the same PC and a high speed internet connection ....and it's not working !!! I have this error : "Waiting for proxy registration" for hours ....

Also in the LOG, i have this message :
11:12:26 ERROR Cannot construct Address-of-Record without CallerID or authentication username

I have read a couple of posts without finding any solution to my issue. Could you please help me ?

I wouldn't profess to being an expert, but it sounds like your Voip connection isn't making it to the Internet. Some Internet connections use a proxy to act as a go between sitting between your computer and the real Internet. That proxy takes information from your computer and sends it out on the Internet as if it were its own request. When it receives a reply it then forwards the reply to your computer as if it actually came from the Internet. I suspect the proxy is blocking the ports you need for Voip. Ports are like special channels are holes through which the information can pass. Some providers or hotel systems block those ports to prevent a problem from coming through that method. (I'm sorry I can't explain better.) I am suspecting the hole you need for Voip where you are at now is plugged. You would need to check with whoever is providing you Internet service. Hope that helps. Smile

Thanks for your help ... Do you know if there is any possibility to manually configure those ports ? Thanks

Well I may not be as much help as some of the others on the forum but I'll give it a try. I would usually tell you to first look at any firewall software running on your computer. But since it worked before, I don't think your computer is in question. Unfortunately I don't know of any way to configure port blocking on the ISP side without talking to the ISP or whoever is providing the Internet connection. Somebody hopefully will see this thread and have a better idea.

I just came back from France, at the time I didn't have Softphone or Vonage Talk. I used the V-Access number and used it from the hotel (my hotel didn't have free internet).

Since you have internet you could also try Vonage Talk if you are going to be talking to a Vonage customer, you can even talk to tech support using Vonage talk, here is the link:

https://www.vonagetalk.com/

Let us know how you make out with your problem, wished I could have offered more assistance.
