I have had Vonage for several weeks but have only noticed this problem now. Basically, while I talk to someone on the phone and click on an internet link, the person on the other end of the line can't hear me anymore and this doesnt go away even if i stop loading the page. I can hear the person on the other end but they cant hear me. So I have to hang up and call again. The only possible reason for this that I can think of is maybe my comp is set to take bandwidth from anywhere to load sites. Its a dumb guess but eh its a guess. Oh nad I am not doing any uploading that I know of. Can anyone help? Thanks

Hey thanks for responding. My connection speed is about 1753 kbps down and 280 kbps up. I just tested it on dslreports.com. It is usually over 2000 down and about 370 up. I dont know why it gave me those numbers though. Oh and my cable service provider is earthlink and I live in brooklyn,ny if that helps at all. Thanks

Firmware? I eally don't remember. I opened all of those ports and called my cell phone and loaded some big sites and the only thing that happened was a small amount of breaking up but after the page loaded the breaking up stopped and i could hear myself on my cell phone so in other words..it works and thank you VERY MUCH antipas. I am in deep gratitude.

Hi this same problem happened to me.
I have a D-link 614+ router. I was told by customer support to try forwarding the ports. I did that and the problem persisted. Then I was told to try a different router, so I set up my linux box as a router using NAT. And disabled my 614+. The problem still persisted, although not as often.
Then I was told by customer support to try getting a new cablemodem from my ISP. I did, and the problem finally went away.
I had a Toshiba PCX1100 or something, and got a motorola surfboard.
Hope this helps...

When I moved to a Motorola SURFboard, the SB4200, my speed went up 30%.

I had this exact same problem, which is now fixed. Are you using an RCA modem? You see, I too use Earthlink Cable running over Time Warner. They issued me an RCA modem, which I always thought worked fine. Then I got Vonage, and everytime I would hit a website while on the phone, it would go to "one-way voice" where I could hear them, but they could not hear me. After hours on the phone with tech support at Earthlink, Vonage, and Time Warner, I was convinced it was a modem problem. I arranged to get a new modem, and they only had RCAs, so I was given another RCA. I go home, plug it in, and same problem. But I still new it was the modem due to all of our testing. Time Warner kept telling me that RCA is the only modem they give out now, so finally a tech arranged for a TW technician from a different service area to bring me a 3Com modem (that's all that service area has). The problem was IMMDIATELY fixed. I called each company and wrote them email to please make a special note about this RCA modem incompatibility with Vonage.

You can see the full thread on the dslreports forum under Voip.

Good luck!
