Super! No, I am not a new Vonage customer. I have been with Vonage a little more than a year. I am wondering why there is such a hassle to get the VT2542. Again, I am glad that things worked out for you! |

WOW. All I did was call the 800-VONAGE and followed the prompts for customer service. I gave them my account number and asked if I could upgrade/change and the rep said sure. They sent the new one out, but made it clear I needed to return the old one, and I was up and running in 4 days. They even added the new device to my account, so all I did was plug it in and I got my dial tone on my phone number. I have been a customer with two devices (1 of which I purchased from Best Buy) and two lines for two years. I just checked my billing tab and all charges are still "0". I guess I just got lucky..... wow did I get lucky! |

They opted to do the "Exchange Device" for you. You should send the device right away so you won't be charged for the device being sent to you. If I am not mistaken, if they don't get the device (old one) after 14days from the day you called you will be charged for the new one (on your credit card of course). If you send the old one and they received it within 14days, then the new device they sent you will be sort of FREE or be tagged as a replacement for the old one.
Am I making sense? lol

I paid the Vonage advertised price and will receive my new device in 2-3 days. She said nothing about an exchange. I'm just glad i fnally got someone willing to help me. I got worried when the Vonage support rep directed me to EBay to purchase my replacement equipment. Nonetheless, I got it resolved. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. |

Just a caution, do not buy devices on Ebay that was used before by customers coz you could buy a device that belongs to an account with pending or outstanding balance. If you get a device with outstanding acct chances are you won't get to use the device.
However used devices are cheaper so ask for the MAC Id or serial number first, call their previous phone provider and check the status of the device, if no bad history then go purchase the device. Purchase it only after doing some check so not to waste your money. Just a friendly advise.
As for paying the actual cost of the device and not getting it thru "device exchange" it is okay since you had it delivered for 2-3 days. That's faster than the "exchange" which would take more or less 5days (standard shipping). Also, with buying a new one, if the current one you have is still functioning, you could still use that one should you plan to have another device you could use on a different location.
