...The Motorola VT2542 can connect up to 2 Vonage lines through your high-speed Cable or DSL Internet connection and includes a wireless router. It's great for all your phone needs and creating a wireless home network with Wireless-G (802.11g at 54Mbps) or Wireless-B (802.11b at 11Mbps). Just plug into your broadband modem and use the two standard telephone jacks to connect your existing phones or phone and fax machine. The router allows you to connect up to 4 PCs directly and use your Internet connection for your computers and your phone at the same time, as well as connecting multiple wireless devices...

I know somebody who's using the 2542, i think he's as satisfied as dhouston, Cool ..

I had a similar situation, but did not get the same great results. I upgraded from the VT2442 to the VT2542 and was charged $20, supposedly the difference in the current cost of the 2 devices. I guess it all depends on the customer service representative. At any rate, I am pleased with the VT2542. Prior to the VT2542, I had also used the Linksys WRTP54G wireless router. Although I have only had the VT2542 about 3 weeks, I think my fax line works better with the VT2542. My networking is very minimal, so no problem with the wireless routing.

Where did you get your new Mororola VT2542? I have called Vonage twice to request buying one of these since my original phone adapter is going out. I have been told both times that I could only purchase a VT2542 from them if I was a new customer. I have been a Vonage customer for several years and this is VERY FRUSTRATING !!

Try calling Vonage. Ask to be connected to Acct Management. Tell them of your problems. Ask if they could send you just the device as your device is Defective. Account Managers would be able to send you one. You will be billed for the device and I assure you, you won't get a new number. Smile

If you called Vonage and the number you dialed was 866-243-4357 you could have been talking to a SALES rep. They don't send you a device unless you get a new number with them since that would be a NEW SIGN-UP for them. Call customer service ask them you just want a device. If customer service couldn't do that ask to be connected to Advance Customer Service or Account Management. They would be able to order a new device without getting a new number.

I got my VT2542 directly from Vonage. I tried tech support and was told that I could only switch to the D Link. I later called and chose the option for customer service. I was prepared to pay the full price of the VT2542. But the representative gave me the option of paying the difference in cost between the VT2542 and the VT2442. I accepted. I had to return the VT2442. However, the representative sent an email with the return information that I needed. I received the VT2542 in about 3 days. Then I returned the VT2442. By the way, I am convinced that my fax machine really does work better with the VT2542.

Believe it or not, I'm speaking with a Vonage Account Management member and she is placing the order for me. I hate to say this but I told them to cancel my Vonagae account and that is when the decision was made to sell me the VT2542.
